Confused I am!
Bow--- Barnett quad 400 avi
Scope -- Barnett 5 reticle scope
Instructions say to zero the top reticle at 10 yards, then to zero the 4 lower reticles back off from the target until each reticle zeros.
I zeroed top reticle at 10 yards, then went to 15, then 20, then 30, then 35 and the second reticle was still bringing the arrow in high. It gives the corresponding yardage range that the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th reticles should zero. I by a far margin exceeded those ranges.
So I pondered for a while and decided to sight the 3rd reticle in at 30 yards then walk in to sight the 2nd and top reticles. 3rd reticle sight in easily, 2nd reticle fell in at 15 yards, 1st reticle sighted in low at 10 yards, moved into 8 yards still low. That's when I noticed the low error corresponded to the measurement of rail to scope.
Now I realise this has somethingto do with trajectory, how or why I don't know.
The question is how in the heck do I zero this scope?
My thought today is to rezero the 3rd (middle) reticle at 40 yards. If it behaves like it did when zeroed at 30 yards, this should put the 2nd reticle somewhere around 25, and the top reticle at 15.
Then once this is established I return to the longer range and start backing away from the target until reticles 4 and 5 are zeroed. I expect #4 would fall out somewhere around 50-55 yards and #5 to come in at 60-65 yards.
Am I headed in the right direction? Did I over look some sort of logicc that applies here?
